Weekend

Monday, March 30th, 2009

Trained on Sat in a Virgin Active Gym in London.  Lots of Techno gym equipment which is ok, does the job, but getting into for eg: seated leg curl is quite difficult, lucky I didn’t twist my knees.  I trained arms and legs.  The gym was quite warm and I was able to get a good pump too.  I started with pushdowns on their single cable machine (not that great) and then I superset with double arms db extensions, barbell curls for 12/10/8 and then incline supination curls on incline bench with incline ez french press which was really good and then finished arms off with db hammer curls (much better using the free weights), alternate db lunges 2 x 30 and the seated leg curl, abs - plank and fitball crunches.

Sunday evening, hit some cardio to wake the body up from the drive back to London.  It was a gorgeous day and made the most of the light evening.  I met Deanne and we did sprints up paths with steps and beach sprints.  Today my legs and glutes are sore, so PUMP tonight and then training shoulders and chest Wednesday.  Deanne is 4 weeks out from her first show in Trained Figure with NABBA and also Chris is doing his first show NOVICES at Exeter on the 26th April.  Both of them are getting into really good shape and it will be good to see them on stage.

Weds 25th March

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

Oh my goodness!  I trained today, my first workout back was my PUMP class on Monday, great class, they all worked really hard and heart rates were up!   Hamstring were a bit sore from the good mornings, but thats ok.

Back to work and training clients, everyone is doing really well, holidays coming up that they are focussing on and their training is stepping up!

This morning I trained shoulders, back and chest, boy was it hard!?!  I am a bit weak from last week and am trying hard to get calories back in.  But, I completed the workout and live to tell the tale!  Standing shoulder press into db lateral raises.  Upright rows into db shruggs, pullovers into reverse grip pulldowns, straight arms pulldowns into db bent over rows, incline db flyes into decline push ups, decline ab bench and fit ball crunches.  Exhausted, but as usual WORTH IT!!!  I have to grow….

End of week

Friday, March 20th, 2009

I can’t wait to get this week out of the way, I have dreamt of competing, Uk and the States, with different styles and colours of hair, with suits, forgetting suits and shoes, I have done a lot of reading and searching the net and my head is full.  I will be happy to get this week over as it is so frustrating that I have not been able to train.  I am almost back to normal and bug has nearly gone, I need the training back to clear my head and move forward, so that my dreams can become real, apart from forgetting the suits and shoes!  See, I am even madder when I am not training!!!

Great week for clients, Chantel is the lowest body fat ever and very happy, ready for the breakfast in the States soon!!!  Well done.

Sarah is doing great at 24 weeks, sorry we didn’t train this week, but not a good idea for you!

Well done Fritha, you have lost in 8 weeks, 9lb and 6.5 inches.  Really great results!!!

Serious Fit at W2K

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

Well it was a great afternoon of excitiment at Winners 2000 on Sunday afternoon.  We were once again left with the reigning champions  3rd year running.  Well done to Eliot and Clare, we’ll wait and see what happens next year.  Well done to my client Lesley who placed 3rd with an impressive time of 8.20 beating her last year time of 9.33!!!  It was a great afternoon and truly inspiring as coaches to see people work so hard, There was  22 participants, all of those that took part again this year beat their personal bests from last year and we also had new people beating their personal bests from their training sessions.  So well done everyone.  The next Serious Fit Event is 26th April, with the football match Torquay v Paignton gym at the Boys Grammar School with Marie and Kelly who have just re-opened our cafe with a bar-b-q and refreshments!  Should be another great day!

Training has been great for the last 10 days, I have made some gains and at the late weekend struck down with a stomach bug.  No food, just water and going in for 48 hours!  Still on the other hand, it has only been 4 days no training, so I have got to think of it as rest days, ready to come back stronger!!!

Arnold Classic 09

Monday, March 9th, 2009

I have just checked up on the pics and the Winners from the Arnold Classic.  It is really interesting in the ‘figure internation’ which would be my category as a pro.  Monica Brant looks in great shape and totally balanced and placed 6th.  The top 1 and 2 look like they are much smaller on top with not much in delts and arms, the winner Zivile has just boosted her ‘assets’ and is enormous but her upper body still looks small in comparision to her legs.  It is amazing to think she has placed first, when I met her 3 years ago in NY she had just turned pro.  You can find her in my gallery IFBB PROS.  Check out the pics on www.bodybuilding.com or google arnold classic pics 2009

Today I trained with Jon and it was a fab session.  Both of us had pumped arms, INCREDIBLE!!  Again because I had a spot I was able to take my close grip bench up to 7.5kg a side for 12/10/8 supset with pushdowns, the rope pressdowns were really hard 8/8/8 drop.  Incline sup curls with cable curls were strict and biceps ripping off the bone! and then the drop set 8/8/8 db hammer curls finished us off.  Legs was great, 3 sets of 30 reps with the dumbells and very strict 2 x 12 reps with the seated leg curl.  30 mins on the incline treadmill, job done!  Legs shaking, drinking glutamine!!!

End of a great week!!!

Sunday, March 8th, 2009

I am on a roll, I think it is safe to say!! I have trained Weds,Fri, Sunday this week and done cardio.  My health is back on track!  I trained this morning with Jon and he joined me on my workout.  As I had someone spotting me, I was able to take my db lateral raises up to 10kg which I superset with machine shoulder press 12/10/8.  Shoulders looked big and pumped.  BB upright rows with db shruggs, I took the weight of db shrugg down to 15kg, so I could get a squeeze right up into my traps.  I didn’t get pumped up in my forearms like I did this week when I trained the next part of back which was good, I really felt the pullovers and reverse grip pulldowns 12/10/8 right into my lats!  Straight arms pulldowns and db bent over rows were good too.  A great workout, done in 40 mins.

I hope you have all had a good week with training and some of my clients are getting ready for next Sundays Serious Fit competition, so we are nearly there! Hang in there all of you.

Here’s to a successful week for all of us!

What a week!!!

Saturday, March 7th, 2009

I have had a great weeks training, my Wednesday sessionwas good and I really felt my lats and shoulders.  I worked out on Friday afternoon and trained arms and legs.  It’s less volume and more intensity and less CNS for my system.  My arms got a real pump and it felt like ages since I had trained my legs.  My workout consisted out close grip push ups on the smith machine superset with close grip pushdowns 12/10/8, incline supination curls with cable curls a few other key variation exercises as well.  The leg extension machine was in use, so I swopped the exercise for alternate leg lunges with a 10kg db in each hand for 2 x 30 reps and then lying leg curl for 2 x 12 reps.  On Saturday I did double cardio, not with too much intensity, just uphill walking on the treadmill and bike.Saving my energy for Sundays workout! Glutes and hams sore!  Great tight feeling!

Back to the future/training!

Wednesday, March 4th, 2009

Great workout today, first time back training since teaching PUMP on Monday.  I have a new A & B split and today I trained Shoulders, Back and Chest.  I started with dumbell lateral raises into standing shoulder press 12/10/8, then barbell upright rows into db shruggs 2 x 12.  Pullovers into reverse grip pulldowns 12/10/8 (my forearms were about to burst!)  Straight arm pulldowns into db bent over row 2 x 12 and then for chest, incline db flyes into decline pushups till failure, ouch!  Felt good, got a nice pump.  It’s nice to be back training and then a 20 min walk on the incline treadmill to ‘Back to the Future!’  I love the 80’s!
