New York - Day 75 - Competition Day - (10/11)

THE ROAD AHEAD HAS REACHED ITS END – THIS IS WHAT IT’S ALL BEEN ABOUT!!!

Applied my third coat of tan at about this morning.  Washed my hair in the sink!  What a palava, trying not to let my tan run!  Stopped what I was doing and sat down and read all my good luck e mails and cards form family, friends, clients and from my gym members and put them into a file to take with me to the show.  I can remember a real buzz from all these people who genuinely wanted me to do well.  Dried and straightened my hair and added my hair extensions in.  Next was make-up, the Jan Tana face make up is excellent, really matched the tan.  Now the nervous bit, applying the make up and remembering the advice from Helen about the eye shadow and blending and adding the ‘feline’ shape to the eyes!  Perfect, really pleased with my make-up.  Packed my bag, suits and shows, dyna band, leg warmers on, t shirt on and velour bottom, baggy sweatshirt and flip flops on.  Ready to go!  Arrived at the Tribeca Theatre, downtown

Manhattan with Simon and registered .  Received my ‘npc medal’ and waited for the meeting to start at .  Weighed in at 123.5 lb, so about 8stone 11lb, though I would have been lighter around 2 lb, but reckon it must be water from flight, but I look good and not worried.  Still weighing in around the same as my idol Davana Medina.   The meeting was really exciting, had been practising my ‘model turns’ and were told on stage by Kim Klein (Arnold Classic Fitness Winner – IFBB Pro) that we started on model turns and then line up on the side of the stage and then are called into the centre for out mandatory poses and then the judges start to call out our number for comparisons.  We were to start off with our one piece and then two pieces, then we could leave and come back for the evening show with a meeting at . Shared a dressing room with a girl from figure A (height class under 5ft) and I was to be class C (height over 5.5ft).  What a blast!  I loved it!  It was an amazing experience, unlike anything I have ever felt.  My dancing experience didn’t give me this much fulfilment.  This was the time and place to show the judges how hard I have worked on my body, diet and how I believed I had the body to place at the top.  To show my clients what I am about, that I practice what I preach and to put myself on the map for myself, Simon and Winners 2000.  I was the first call out number for comparisons and I knew I was doing well.  The rest is like a blur.  Leaving the show for a rest in the afternoon, to practice my posing and model turns, to sip my green tea (on odd occasions) and to focus.  Went back in the afternoon to learn that some of pics were on www.musculardevelopment.com eastern

usa
figure C.  That was really exciting to see myself and comparisons etc.  We had the meeting and the evening started again.  Took to the stage like a natural and loved it, just wish we could a bit of posing, we work so hard on our bodies, it is a shame to not have to flex a bicep or tricep, like they did in the beginning of women’s body building with Rachel Mclish, Lori Bowen (see pumping iron 2) for what I mean.  Placed second in the show, I was very pleased with my accomplishment, I mean to travel and place second in my first show is fantastic.  But I wanted first place, a bitter-sweet taste.  I couldn’t go any higher than this competition as I am not an American citizen and could not therefore qualify for the nationals.  But I have got lovely trophy and some great pictures so I could not ask for anything more.  Tired, emotional, hungry, sore back, but worth it!

New York - Day 74 (9/11)

Nice long morning walk around

Central Park, woke up at a ridiculous time and had to wait before getting up.  4 hours of trying to get back to sleep is hard, thank god for American T.V!!!  Down to 1 litre of water today, just worked out how much I can have through the day, think it’s just enough to swallow tabs!!!  Got a bit of a headache, and feel groggy, due to flight and dehydration.  Did a light total body routine inn the gym, but felt so weak, but just nice to pump a little blood through my body.  Had egg white omelette and oatmeal for breakfast.  Lunch was a chicken salad and then had my posing session with IFBB Pro Jenn Searles.  Did my posing in my green 2 piece and heels.  She thought my posing was too much like a body builder and has softened my approach.  I am allowed to do a slight twist when to my first quarter turn to the right.  That’s good as it emphasises my small waist.  She has also advised me not to turn my feet out showing my quad sweep, but rather to have my feet parallel facing front.  She say they prefer the longer lean physique and to look like I am posing but not making it look like I am posing too hard!  Rather like I do this the entire time look!  Started to get real tired and had half a salad for my tea with chicken and asparagus and bed again!!  But not before applying my first coat of Jan Tana competition mousse at .  Then I set my alarm for in the morning to apply the second coat.

New York - Day 73 (8/11)

Down to 3 litres of water today and potassium and taraxatone/dandelion root every 2 hours.  7 hour flight to

New York.  Longest flight ever!  Think it’s the stimulant in the taraxatone, slept for an hour on and off. No airplane food with me, it’s packed with too much sodium, just took veg and cold meat for the flight.   Had a steak and fries when settled in

New York
and then bed!

New York - Day 72 (7/11)

Wednesday, November 7th, 2007

Since end of last week when I began eating again, I cut all my carb meals in half.  I have stopped training my clients since Monday and am now not back at work again until I am back from

New York.  Had my nails and toe nails done and had the French manicure.  They look great, the acrylic nails look fab and I have opted for the permanent white tip, don’t want to get them chipped!  Been to the hairdressers ‘Boho’ and Tamsin has dyed my hair and re highlighted the blonde bits.  Left the hairdressers with my hair extensions in. (Hope I can do this myself on the day!)  Popped into work and my suits have arrived, they look amazing can’t wait!  Thank goodness for my friend Claire.  She came around the house on an emergency call, my suits need to be sewn and looped to my own personal adjustment.  Took her three hours from start to finish, but they are done and they look amazing, had a lot of well-wishers popping in.  Starting to feel like a professional already in suits and heels.  It’s and I haven’t started packing yet.  Main thing is to pack my competition stuff and the rest can follow.  Down to 3 litres if water and body is looking real tight.  Weighed myself this morning and I am 8  stone 11 lb.  On target!!!

New York - Day 71 (5/11)

Did a nice total body routine this morning with Helen.  Leg extension, lunges and leg curls, vertical chest press, reverse grip pulldown, barbell curls and tricep press downs and dumbell lateral raises and 30 mins on the stair climber.  I am still on 6 litres of water.  Suits are coming  tomorrow by courier!!!  Had my eyelashes dyed and eyebrows today.  Visited the hygienist at the dentist for a lovely scale ad polish, and had my legs, arms sugared today, so that the tan will look conditioned on my skin.  Started exfoliating last week to keep my skin in really good condition.

New York - Day 70 (5/11)

Monday, November 5th, 2007

Apparently my suits are in

England and have been since Friday.  Fed Ex are the culprits, but aren’t answering their phone, but I can track it on the internet to see the proof.  I am down to 6 litres of water now and have started taraxatone on the second and third dose.  Had a good day, but starting to get tired.  Today was the last day I could have a sunshower as the UV rays can pull extra cellular water to the surface.

New York - Day 68 (3/11)

Saturday, November 3rd, 2007

Ok, well one week to go.  8 litres of water today and serving of potassium (99mg) and (1000mg) dandelion root or 3 tabs of Taraxatone each serving is at 4 times a day.  ///, I have started off just taking dandelion servings as I don’t want to upset my body balance after not being very well as the Taraxatone has stimulant in and I need my rest at the moment.  Wow!  Peeing for

England!!!  Still no sign of my suits!!!

New York - Day 67 (2/11)

Friday, November 2nd, 2007

Ok, my suits are meant to be arriving today from

USA.  I hope so!!!  Have stopped being ill.  I am on the mend at last, by body is in shape and I am feeling good.  Went with Helen and bought some lovely make up.  Benefit does a nice range and bought ‘10’ a lovely blusher with highlighter in.  Got some mouth wash as Helen said I would need it as I would hardly be eating or drinking on the day of the comp.  Today I started drinking water at 8 litres, wondered how I would do it, but I did it.  Also started on the Potassium and Dandelion root too.
