New York - Day 75 - Competition Day - (10/11)

THE ROAD AHEAD HAS REACHED ITS END – THIS IS WHAT IT’S ALL BEEN ABOUT!!!

Applied my third coat of tan at about this morning.  Washed my hair in the sink!  What a palava, trying not to let my tan run!  Stopped what I was doing and sat down and read all my good luck e mails and cards form family, friends, clients and from my gym members and put them into a file to take with me to the show.  I can remember a real buzz from all these people who genuinely wanted me to do well.  Dried and straightened my hair and added my hair extensions in.  Next was make-up, the Jan Tana face make up is excellent, really matched the tan.  Now the nervous bit, applying the make up and remembering the advice from Helen about the eye shadow and blending and adding the ‘feline’ shape to the eyes!  Perfect, really pleased with my make-up.  Packed my bag, suits and shows, dyna band, leg warmers on, t shirt on and velour bottom, baggy sweatshirt and flip flops on.  Ready to go!  Arrived at the Tribeca Theatre, downtown

Manhattan with Simon and registered .  Received my ‘npc medal’ and waited for the meeting to start at .  Weighed in at 123.5 lb, so about 8stone 11lb, though I would have been lighter around 2 lb, but reckon it must be water from flight, but I look good and not worried.  Still weighing in around the same as my idol Davana Medina.   The meeting was really exciting, had been practising my ‘model turns’ and were told on stage by Kim Klein (Arnold Classic Fitness Winner – IFBB Pro) that we started on model turns and then line up on the side of the stage and then are called into the centre for out mandatory poses and then the judges start to call out our number for comparisons.  We were to start off with our one piece and then two pieces, then we could leave and come back for the evening show with a meeting at . Shared a dressing room with a girl from figure A (height class under 5ft) and I was to be class C (height over 5.5ft).  What a blast!  I loved it!  It was an amazing experience, unlike anything I have ever felt.  My dancing experience didn’t give me this much fulfilment.  This was the time and place to show the judges how hard I have worked on my body, diet and how I believed I had the body to place at the top.  To show my clients what I am about, that I practice what I preach and to put myself on the map for myself, Simon and Winners 2000.  I was the first call out number for comparisons and I knew I was doing well.  The rest is like a blur.  Leaving the show for a rest in the afternoon, to practice my posing and model turns, to sip my green tea (on odd occasions) and to focus.  Went back in the afternoon to learn that some of pics were on www.musculardevelopment.com eastern

figure C.  That was really exciting to see myself and comparisons etc.  We had the meeting and the evening started again.  Took to the stage like a natural and loved it, just wish we could a bit of posing, we work so hard on our bodies, it is a shame to not have to flex a bicep or tricep, like they did in the beginning of women’s body building with Rachel Mclish, Lori Bowen (see pumping iron 2) for what I mean.  Placed second in the show, I was very pleased with my accomplishment, I mean to travel and place second in my first show is fantastic.  But I wanted first place, a bitter-sweet taste.  I couldn’t go any higher than this competition as I am not an American citizen and could not therefore qualify for the nationals.  But I have got lovely trophy and some great pictures so I could not ask for anything more.  Tired, emotional, hungry, sore back, but worth it!
