New York - Day 49 (15/10)

Monday, October 15th, 2007

Weight gone up, holding water, must be down to the travelling and late weekend.  9st 1lb. Not to worry, looking very lean today.  We are all so tired today!  Simon has discussed changes for the week with me.  Have decided not to cut my carbs down this week and that I will probably be better to increase my cardio, as he down side to cutting down my carbs will be I get tired and then to start to hold water, cardio may suit me better, so I have scheduled in to increase cardio to 6 days a week.

New York - Day 48 (14/10)

Helens final!  Got up at 5am with her to put her last coat of tan on.  Washed her hair for her (can’t ruin the tan), left with Simon and did sprints.  What a long day!  Arrived at the theatre for Helen to register at 8am, loads of body builders outside smoking!  What kind of sport is this? Healthy!?!  The pre-judging started at 10am, loads of body builders in each category, Helen didn’t pre-judge till 1.45pm, she looked great, real confident.  Dean and I watched the pre judging and looked after all the food, cool boxes and weights.  The show was meant to start at 7pm, doors opened at 8pm (pre judging only finished before 7pm!)  far too long for spectators, let alone all the poor dehydrated body builders etc.  Helen came on and did her routine, looked great and in shape, much better than all the other girls.  Next was the one piece, (dean and I were so nervous), shouted “come on 126” just in case judges weren’t sure who the winner clearly was!”  Helen won!  Helen is now officially the UKBFF British Fitness Champion. Look at our coach Simon’s website www.seriouspt.com and Helen’s website for more pics www.thetrulystrong.co.uk  What a long drive back to Torquay – but it was worth it!

New York - Day 47 (13/10)

What a fantastic leg training session today. Leg extensions, lying leg curls and split jump lunges as a tri-set.  Alternate dumbbell lunges and one leg squat (foot resting up on bench), squats.  Legs so shaky and could feel my glutes working today instead of the usual quads!  For triceps we did ez bar – pull and presses, overhead tricep cable extension and seated hammer curls.  Did 30 mins on the stair climber followed by a leg massage with Morgan our new sports therapist.  Great morning!  Now what a great workout seeing as I felt so rough yesterday with colonic and cleanse.  Leaving this afternoon for

Nottingham for Helens UKBFF British fitness finals.

New York - Day 46 (12/10)

Liver cleanse today.  Felt real rough and tired by late afternoon.  For the first time, the idea of doing cardio was a real, real struggle, not eaten since 2pm and the only food as been a carbohydrate cereal for the cleanse.  Took myself and I pod down to the track and did sprints.  Pleased I did it.  These are the days a champion is born!  Went to bed real early, ready for the big workout tomorrow!  4 weeks to go till I show at

New York.

New York - Day 43 (9/10)

Tuesday, October 9th, 2007

Trained back and did neutral grip chins, power cleans (awesome – did 5kg aside of the Olympic bar) Dumbbell shoulder presses with 15 kg for 8 reps and lateral raises, feeling strong today!  And really enjoyed seated supination dumbbell curls, strong biceps!Today started the 40mins on the stair climber after my work shift and fitted it in before my client personal training sessions, Level 10!   Heard back from Jenn Searles today, she loves my back! And tells me that I need to work on my shoulders (need boulders), she said the rest is coming on real well.  Simon and I are still unsure of how hard I have to come in at.  Nothing seems set in stone with figure!  Been looking at Jenny Lynn Olympia win pics, she seems smaller this year than last, tighter but not as hard!?!  All seems a gamble!

New York - Day 42 (8/10)

Weight is 8st 13lb, have a long day at work today, so no cardio as it is the beginning of a long week.

New York - Day 41 (7/10)

Sunday, October 7th, 2007

Changes for week ahead, 40 mins cardio x 5 days a week.  Just put it all in my training diary, looks quite hard to fit it in with my work and personal training, and my own training, but I can do it, only 34 days to go!!!  Did 45 mins on the treadmill this morning.  Trained 2 of my clients in my ‘heels’, calves look like they are coming through at last, the 100reps 4 x day is working!  Still waiting to hear back from Jenn regarding her observations on my body.

New York - Day 40 (6/10)

5 weeks to go – 35 days!  Feeling very excited, little worried in the week about wondering where my suits are and when will they arrive from Chrys –

USA?  Sure they will come soon enough.  The last few Saturdays I have been having Reflexology with Diane or Lymphatic Drainage at the Well Being Centre in my Gym Winners 2000.  But Diane has moved her slot, so today I had sports massage with Morgan.  It was really good and she was nice and firm with her massage, Morgan did my hamstrings and calves and back and shoulders/neck.  Great hour, especially after my workout this morning.  Hard hamstrings, both lying and seated leg curl machine with pause reps on the seated, single leg barbell lunges with the Olympic bar (amazing feeling in my glutes!)  and heavy seated dumbbell hammer curls were in to peak my biceps.  Really good workout, totally knackered today, had a sleep in the afternoon and then went back to work with the team and help paint our back corridor for preparations for our new development ready for 2008.  Had steak and fries for cheat meal, what a great dinner.  Back to chicken tomorrow!

New York - Day 38 (4/10)

Thursday, October 4th, 2007

Had bad headache since Tuesday, part of the protocol (die-off) and been feeling queasy on and off, at least things are moving on the anti-Candida front!  Neutral chins were order of the day and we did full cleans and presses – Olympic bar with 5kg either side, really like this exercise.  Sent pics of me after training to Jenn Searles in

New York, to ask her what she thinks of my body as its 5 weeks out from show on Saturday, and to ask questions about how hard I should be etc.  Still finding the side pose the hardest, would be easier if I could do the side pose with the twist, but NPC rules could say side pose is with new twist, Simon hates me in this pose as he said it just makes me look so tall and long (thin!)

New York - Day 36 (2/10)

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007

Great workout today, hit deadlifts with Olympic bar 26 and ¼ kg either side for 6 reps!  Real strong and pumped up today.  Narrow leg press really deep, Simon made me do extra penalties because they weren’t deep enough, got a great pump in my quads, just what I need!  Made sure my knee knocked the ground with alternate leg lunges with 10kg dumbbells (need them to get my ass!)  Cardio sessions this week are still 45 mins x 5 days week.
